Kunio-Kun

Technos Games

  • Renegade
    • The game that basically launched the beat-em-up arcade genre, this first entry in the Kunio-Kun series has the elements but lacks the staying power to remain a classic.
  • Super Dodge Ball
    • A fun diversion for the series, this game too lacks real staying power but it did show that Kunio and his friends could be put just about anywhere to decent results.
  • River City Ransom
    • The first truly great fighting game in the series, this title has everything fans wanted -- RPG elements, lots of cash, dumb catch phrases -- all wrapped up in solid fighting action.
  • Nintendo World Cup
    • Kunio and his boys take to the field for the first soccer game in the franchise, but this is still a Kunio-kun game through and through.
  • Downtown Nekketsu March: Super Awesome Field Day
    • The rival school gangs get together for another sports title, this time a collection of okay track and field events (Crash 'n the Boys not included, offer void in Utah).
  • Double Dragon II (Game Boy)
    • Originally released as Hot Blooded Tough Guy Kunio, this Double Dragon sequel in name only managed to disapoint fans of two franchises at once.
  • Downtown Special Kunio-kun's Historical Period Drama!
    • Kunio and friends return to their beat-em-up ways in a greatly expanded sequel that adds a lot more of everything, but somehow doesn't feel as fresh.
  • Go-Go! Nekketsu Hockey Club Slip-and-Slide Madness
    • Technos recycles the Nintendo World Cup into a low-effort hockey game that isn't realy worth playing at all.
  • Crash n' the Boys: Street Challenge
    • The Kunio gang (or Crash and his boys, depending on the region) return for another five-event brawl, although this time to even less interesting results.
  • The Original Hot-Blooded Tough Guy Kunio
    • Kunio and his boys head to Osaka to soak in the sights, but end up in another street-brawling adventure, now on the SNES.
  • Nekketsu Fighting Legend
    • Kunio steps into the ring (with a friend) for a battle against the best highschool fighters around Japan, all to prove who's the biggest bad-ass around.
  • Kunio-kun's Nekketsu Soccer League
    • Technos trotted out a lazy soccer retread for the Famicom as that system quickly reached the end of its life.
  • It's Kunio's Dodgeball, Assemble Everyone!
    • Technos brings their sports titles to the SNES, and yet somehow manages to ruin the one consistent thing they had going for their series.
  • Nekketsu! Street Basketball All-Out Dunk Heroes
    • Technos ushers out the Famicom era of their franchise with one last sports title, a basketball game that really sings.
  • Downtown Hot-Blooded Baseball Story: It's a Baseball Match! Kunio-kun
    • Kunio comes to us with a baseball sim, but one that plays too straight without any of the fun of the series.
  • The New Hot-Blooded Tough Guy: The Elegy of Kunio and Co.
    • Kunio returns on the SNES for another brawler, but anyone expecting a sequel to the previous SNES fighting effort will be left a little cold.
  • Oden of Kunio
    • The last SNES game in the series isn't a fighting game but, instead, a slight and bland puzzler.
  • It's Kunio's Beach Volleyball
    • The time of Kunio-kun under Technos's care comes to an end as the company goes bankrupt after one last release, a volleyball title that doesn't move the series forward even an inch.

Million Games

  • Super Dodge Ball Advance
    • Picking up the mechanics of the franchise a decade later, holding company Million revives the series with... a bland dodge ball game. Hurray?

Renegade Sequels

  • Target: Renegade
    • A sequel to the original title published by Ocean, and not Tradewest, this title looks vaguely like the original Renegade but has neither the style nor wit to really pull it off.
  • Renegade III: The Final Chapter
    • The Renegade is back, we guess, for one more pathetic adventure. But now through time!

Double Dragon Series

  • Double Dragon
    • While Kunio and Co. were off playing sports, Tradewest pushed the genre even further with this beat-em-up that easily redefined everything people expected in a brawling game.
  • Double Dragon II: The Revenge
    • When Marian is killed in retaliation for the events of the first adventure, the Dragon boys return to take on the Big Boss again and get a little payback in this superior sequel.
  • Double Dragon 3: The Rosetta Stone
    • The Lee boys are back to hunt down magical stones in this uninspired three-quel.
  • Super Double Dragon
    • The fourth (but not the "fourth") game in the series, this adventure brings the Lee brothers to the Super NES for an utterly underwhelming performance.
  • Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls
    • The Dragon boys return in a different kind of game. A far worse game indeed.

Other Games

Other Media

  • Double Dragon (1994)
    • This film that no one wanted, and even fewer enjoyed, came out to dismal reviews and no money in the 1994 Box Office, for good reason.
